Corrections Committee Report - October 2025
Greetings Area 41 – I’m Marsha and I’m an alcoholic Highlights of the past three months are: The process continues for getting members signed up to take meetings into the Cass County Corrections. I spoke with Andra Bartels who is the Program Manager for the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS). She had lots of questions and would like to be the main contact for the prisons. She has not responded to any of my emails or phone calls after the telephone conversation. The Corrections Committee met from 9 am to 10:15 am with 13 people in attendance. We opened with a moment of silence and the Serenity Prayer.
Introductions and updates from the districts were given. The Work Ethic Camp will be removed from our list as the purpose of the facility has changed. There was discussion about taking meetings into the new population. Contact will be made with the facility to find out how to do that. A suggestion was made to contact our Spanish District for bilingual members. We discussed ways to inform the correctional facilities about the AA literature available on a digital platform. We continue to need more volunteers.
The agenda item to fund the 2026-2027 Corrections Chair to attend the 8th National Corrections Conference in Nashville in November 2025 passed. Congratulations to the new Corrections Chair, Aubrie. Have fun in Nashville!
Thank you to all the members who served on the Corrections Committee this rotation. It was an amazing experience! Thanks to everyone who served in this rotation and to those who are serving in the next.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve Area 41 as the Corrections Chair.
In service – Marsha S.
