District 5 Report - October 2026

Hello, Area 41!

 I’m Brody, Alcoholic/Addict, District 5 DCM.

It was another busy summer in District  5. We had the 4-Corners Workshop in August. The topic was Bridging the Gap and Service Sponsorship. I thought we had a good turnout. We had handful from out of town. I felt there was a lot of good discussion, a lot of valuable experience shared. There were also lessons learned. Don’t forget to start the coffee early! Maybe get more sandwiches than fruits and veggies! I’m very pleased District 5 was able to help put this on. The support from Area, given they did pretty much everything anyway, was fantastic. The 4-State picnic in September, and the Duck Creek picnic last weekend, were big hits once again. Beatrice will be having their annual Downtown AA Speaker Meeting at Valentinos on October 24th. I should have the flyer by the end of the weekend with all the details. Nebraska City Sunday/Monday night meetings will have their annual Sunday Night Dinner in early December at the Red Door Church (St. Mary’s Episcopal Church). I’ve heard the old meeting down in Peru is getting started back up. I’ll make a trip down there soon to help them in any way I can. I’m still working with a few people down in Beatrice, to get the Beatrice meetings back in “Active” status. Mark has been helpful in providing me with the information I need to help them. I’m very appreciative of that help. When I first started as DCM, I was told it takes an act of God to get meeting information updated. I thought to myself “It took an act of God to get me here, so it can’t be that bad”. I really had no idea at that time how accurate that statement is sometimes. I will persevere! Seeing new faces in the district meeting the last couple of meetings has been great. I have high hopes for the future of our district!

Thank you for allowing me to be of service,
Brody H, District 5 DCM
