District 5 Report - October 2025

Greetings, Area 41!

I’m Brody, District 5 DCM.

We’ve had a busy summer down in the southeast corner of the state. From the Fishing tourneys to 4-State Picnics to all summer camping and Speaker Potlucks and West Central Forums, there has been no shortage of things to do this summer in Alcoholics Anonymous. I heard early on that if you’re bored in AA, it’s because you’re a boring person. That’s so true. I spent 10 weeks at the end of summer getting to most of the meetings in my district. I work Saturdays and open Thursday night and Saturday morning meetings in Nebraska City, so those days have been hard to get to. I still haven’t been to the Tuesday night meeting in Bennet yet either, but I’ll get there in the next few weeks.

I’m excited to have our Delegate give his report to our District next month. Lee, GSR for Cortland Wild Bunch, was extremely helpful in getting that arranged for a Friday night meeting in Cortland, on Nov. 7th. Beatrice has their annual AA Anniversary Dinner coming up next Saturday at Valentinos, also. We will be holding elections at our next district meeting on October 26th.

As with most, we struggle to get people involved at the district level. I wish it were a simple answer with a simple solution. But we keep exploring different options to make it more attractive. After all, it’s attraction rather than promotion. Overall, things are still well in District 5!

Yours in Service,
Brody H., District 5 DCM
