Corrections Committee Report - April 2025

Greetings – I attended the District 31 Spanish Workshop on 2/09/25. A question was asked if there were any Spanish speaking meetings being taken into the Omaha area correctional facilities. There is a Spanish speaking meeting being taken into the Douglas County Correctional Facility on Tuesday nights. If there are any other Spanish speaking AA meetings in correctional facilities in the Omaha area please let us know. I attended the 4 Corners Workshop in St. Paul. What a wonderful workshop. One of the female members was able to get into the Custer County jail to talk with female inmates. I attended the CPC/PI Workshop in McCook on 3/29/25 and shared about what our committee does. It was a great workshop! We had a Zoom meeting on 3/10/25 with two people in attendance. We discussed plans for the showcase and the need for volunteers to take meetings into the Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility. We will continue to have Zoom meetings about half way between Area Assemblies. The committee meeting opened with a moment of silence and the Serenity Prayer. Introductions were made and seventeen people attended. We conducted our first hybrid meeting.

Updates were added to the list of meetings. We still need volunteers and are continuing to focus on the youth facilities. We need to contact the DCM’s of the counties that do not have AA meetings being taken into their County Jails. After one hour the meeting closed with the Serenity Prayer and we set up for the Showcase.
