Archivist Report - April 2025

Greetings Area 41,

It's been a very productive last few months. Finally got most of the sorting and organizing of the District files Greetings Area 41. finished. That has been a lengthy process. Within each district file, I have made separate folders for Group Histories, Flyers, Meeting lists, and Newsletters. Group histories have all been digitized along with other cool historical documents. With folders organized as they are it should be easier to find things when needed. And the districts are all in numerical order, which they weren't before. I still have a pile of Lincoln documents that need sorted by district and then this job will be finished for now. mechno (sic) very active in trying to get people to do interviews. - District 4, received a written story from a member in that district. After reading it I am anxious to meet her and do an in- who, I have- person recorded interview. Her story is interesting with a lot of hell gone through. It's remarkable that she made it through and got sober. Especially being a woman so many years ago. Also, regarding District 4, l attended the Young People's pig roast in Fremont and they had a nice Archives and literature display. I did some research on the Report and Charter Committee for the chairperson of that committee who will be putting together some information to present at Area. It was an educational project for me. I have always known that I don't know much about the history of our fellowship, but I am learning nearly every day. I am becoming more and more confident that if I don't know something at least I have a pretty good idea of how to find out.

Ihave been using up a lot of my own supplies from home to create folders, labels, copies, etc. I've run out of some of these things and have finally gone to the store. have presented receipts to the Treasurer for $169.68 for tools and supplies that I need in the repository. Things like a decent stapler, a 3-hole paper punch, hanging folders, erasers, Sharpies, manila folders, envelopes, paper clips, etc. This also included postage to send printed material to Zach for his Report and Charter report.

I came into possession of a tall bookshelf for free and I put it in the repository to display some of our books. I reorganized the room to fit the bookshelf in and filled it with books. I really like the room a lot better now. I also hung some stuff on the walls to make it more interesting.

After the last Intergroup Archives meeting I started playing around with the special scanner/camera that will allow me to scan and digitize the newsletters that are on newsprint. I had a couple of guys help me figure out the technical side of it and I think I can handle it now. My next project is to start digitizing those old newsletters. I also confirmed with the entire committee that I have permission to use that scanner.

This last week I finally connected with Kenny N who has had our reel-to-reel tapes since Mike P died. I was able to obtain possession of those again. I talked to Kenny lot about different things including the purchase of a reel-to-reel player and if necessary a converter so that we can listen to the tapes and digitize them. I have begun doing some research on the purchase of the player and will seek funding for that at a later date. Kenny also gave me a hard drive full of recordings from the Dicobe library. What an amazing gift. I will be purchasing a hard drive to replace the one that he gave me which I feel is only appropriate.
